This is the way. After an extremely successful first season of the Mandalorian, director Jon Favreau tweeted out a picture of a vague release date and a statuette of Gamorrean. You might remember the Gamorrean Guard from Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. The director has confirmed that Season 2 is currently in production and will be released in fall 2020 on the Disney + streaming service.

Mysteries left to us
8 episodes, tons of new merchandise, and thousands of fan theories; season 1 left us with an epic finale and a huge cliff hanger. There are so many mysteries to explore. What is the darksaber which appeared in the final episode? How Moff Gideon got it?
The Darksaber was created by the first-ever Mandalorian/Jedi hybrid named Tarre Vizsla. After his death, it was taken by the Jedi council then stolen back by the house of Vizsla. After multiple different users, it somehow ended up in Moff Gideon’s hands. How? We don’t know yet, but it could be a leading clue for next season.
What’s next for season 2?
Where do we go after that finale? Our assumption is that we’ll be following “The Child” aka Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian across the galaxy as they try to find his home planet. In the meantime, The Mandalorian will likely be cluelessly training him on how to use the force or maybe even wield a weapon. With the appearance of darksaber, it’s possible that the lightsaber would also appear. They may run into another Jedi who would definitely help explain some things to the newly appointed “father”. Not to mention, Moff and his surviving empire will be hot on their tail.
The Darksaber will no doubt play a huge part in season 2. Many guess if Darth Maul the former darksaber holder would resurrect, though according to “Star Wars Rebels” Darth Maul is already dead. Well, you never know what Mandalorian might pop up to wield the blade.
We know that The Mandalorian takes place in between the Star Wars series episodes 6 and 7. This leaves a lot of room to introduce surviving characters from the original trilogy and also the newer characters from the sequel trilogy. The best bet is including aliens or armored characters that haven’t necessarily aged. The Gamorrean posted by Favreau increased more possibilities. The human-looking characters will be tougher to pull off. If we had to guess, surviving Mandalorians, Jedi’s, and maybe even some droids will be making cameos and giving us all the fan service we ever wanted.
Gamorrean and the Mandalorian
The 50-year-old child is maybe the cutest thing to ever happen to Star Wars. There are theories about him being a clone or a descendent or even a reincarnation of Yoda. We’re hoping that season 2 will answer some questions. Who is he? Where did he come from? Why that he is 50 but can’t speak? Does all of his species really have the force?
We hope that this year flies by and we’ll be watching “The Mandalorian” sooner than we imagined. Let’s also hope that we could get answers, some returning characters, and maybe even a Darksaber vs. Lightsaber battle!
